Pondok Indonesia was founded in 1998 by Catherine Tanurahardja. She decided to open the restaurant to satisfy her hobby of cooking. Cooking has always been a passion in her family. The recipes developed for Pondok have been honed throughout many generations in her family. Now Catherine can share part of this culinary legacy to her customers.
Pondok uses the best and freshest selections of ingredients available in local markets. All her original recipes are prepared with healthy ingredients, spices and herbs.
The establishment first opened its doors on Burrard street. A year and a half later, Catherine decided to relocate to a larger space and chose Commercial drive for its lively neighborhood.
